Sofia

Nominated By:

Her chosen family

The Story:

Sofia is graduating into a world that is both full of possibilities and also deeply uncertain. As she prepares to take a gap year, our letters of love and encouragement can serve as a steady compass during a time of transition.

Sofia is seeking perspective, hope, and the kind of wisdom you would offer your younger self if you were standing at the edge of the unknown—reminders that growth often happens in unplanned spaces. As an aspiring writer, she is especially inspired by words, stories, and human connection, making letters of support uniquely meaningful to her journey. Let us write messages that would help ground Sofia in courage and purpose as she steps forward to discover her voice and her place in the world.

Likes:

Sofia likes desserts, reading, and food - especially pasta. Every year, she goes to a Yankees game with her chosen family.

Letters are welcome in English and Spanish

Houston

Nominated By:

His sister

The Story:

Houston is a 29 year old autistic man with high support needs and is non-verbal. He learned to communicate via letter board nearly 10 years ago, but despite being able to communicate and going to college, he is still struggling with his stimming and how his body cannot agree with his brain. He often is discouraged by his own body and how it sets him apart from his peers.

Houston’s biggest goal is to find love, start a family of his own, and become a forensic psychologist. He is an inspiring advocate for all his non-speaking peers learning to communicate, and he deserves to be showered in encouragement as he helps his friends uncover their own voice.

Likes:

Houston loves the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs), sailing, and rocks and minerals (he has a massive stone collection).

Allyson

Nominated By:

Her best friend

The Story:

Allyson lives with advanced lupus, enduring daily pain with a quiet fortitude that few truly perceive, as she refuses to let suffering define her or burden those around her.

Instead of turning inward, she consistently turns outward, seeking ways to brighten and steady the lives of others with grace and intentional kindness. Her volunteer work with hospice patients is a testament to her profound empathy; even while navigating her own chronic illness, she dedicates herself to easing the final chapters of another’s story. In her steadfast compassion and uncomplaining resilience, she embodies a rare and humbling strength of spirit.

Gather your favorite writing utensils and let us write Allyson letters, letting her know that she, too, matters.

Allyson’s birthday is April 1st!

Likes:

She is a bibliophile and devours both books and random bits of information. She is a human jukebox – if you need the name of a song, any genre or decade, Allyson is your girl. (She states that she "should have been a DJ," but was an incredible trauma nurse.) She has several cats who are her life and will talk your ear off about them.

Nicholas

Nominated By:

His best friend

The Story:

Nicholas has struggled with his self-confidence and self-love. He is amazing with people, but has retreated into himself. Things that once felt easy have become seemingly impossible, and he hides his true, beautiful self because he's afraid.

Nicholas is kind, super smart, good-looking, and a jack of all trades, but he just has not felt "like himself" for the last few years. He is always helping his friends and family in every way, but let us flip the script and help Nicholas feel that love he so freely gives.

Likes:

Nicholas likes running, cooking, hiking, history, trucks, being an uncle and brother, Bigfoot, helping others, and being a good friend.
